She Checks In đź’— | You Don’t Have to Carry Everything Alone

Being capable does not mean you must manage every responsibility without support.

Many women become the person others rely on. You may remember the details, anticipate what people need, solve problems, and step in when something needs to be done.

Over time, carrying so much can begin to feel normal—even when it is exhausting.

You may tell yourself:

  • “I should be able to handle this.”
  • “It will be easier if I do it myself.”
  • “I don’t want to burden anyone.”

These thoughts may come from past experiences, family expectations, necessity, or times when asking for help did not feel safe or useful. There is no need to judge yourself for learning how to be self-reliant.

Still, you deserve opportunities to receive care as well as give it.

Support does not have to mean handing someone complete control. It can begin with something small: asking a trusted person to listen, requesting help with one task, allowing someone to accompany you, or simply admitting that today feels difficult.

Your Midweek Check-In

If it feels helpful, consider:

  • What feels especially heavy right now?
  • Which responsibilities truly belong to me?
  • Is there anything I can postpone, simplify, delegate, or release?
  • Who has demonstrated that they can respond with care and respect?
  • What kind of support would feel useful—not intrusive?

You may realize that you need help. You may also realize that the support you need is not currently available. Either realization is valid.

If reaching out feels possible, consider making one clear and specific request. Instead of saying, “I need help with everything,” you might say, “Could you handle this one task?” or “Do you have ten minutes to listen?”

You are allowed to decide what support looks like and who feels safe enough to provide it.

For today’s reflection, you might privately complete this sentence:

One thing I wish felt lighter is…

You are welcome to share a general reflection in the comments, but you never have to disclose anything personal to participate.
